Get your mind out of the gutter!
I’m talking about hangin’ out with your bestest two friends going for lunch, shopping, laughing, drinking a beer or two, three? Take time to get out of your routine before you lose it. Getting a new perspective and rejuvenating your energies together, that’s the kinda threesome I’m talkin’ bout. These activities don’t just work for the moment, connecting physically and emotionally with friends creates chemicals such as serotonin and endorphins in the brain, that have long-term positive effects. Exchanging your weekly stories about your lives, bitching and playing catch up is healthy. Purging the good, bad and the ugly can add years to your life.
I apologize, I had to get your attention in the headline. Sorry to mislead those of you who thought a juicy kinky story awaited. This is a juicy story about friendship and how it can affect your health, emotionally and physically, but kinky Not. Unless you just got a perm.
Sharing your life with a couple of friends once a week or once a month is a necessary “To do” for humans, we were not meant to be alone. Left alone with ones thoughts can be absolutely frightening. Just read or watch the news these people are nutty… loners. Who is making flashlight bombs anyway? He surely needs some friends, okay maybe a straight jacket!
The computer can only be a surrogate friend for a time, then people start to talk. The Facebook Factor is here to stay but it cannot replace the live energy that being with other humans can. No man is an island or woman for that fact. We need friends on our island, a radio, maybe even a dog or cat. Yes, we need our quiet time to recharge and regroup but then we get back in the ring of life where movement and vitality awaits us. We can raise the energy of others with a smile or a hug, it is simple, but being there in person works the best. It is well-known studied fact that the sick can be healed with touch and kind words, add in some Three Stooges movies and that’s quite a prescription for health and life.
Now go round up a couple of friends and go shopping, laugh, spend some money, help the economy, bring home something useful. Most of all, take with you a sense of belonging, connection and well-being. It will save on your doctor and therapist’s bills…
